Chopin. Polonaise-Fantasy in A flat Op.61

Among his great predecessors, it was above all Mozart whom Chopin idolised, and he will not have failed to appreciate the impassioned nature of the outer movements in the A minor Sonata K.310 as well as the elaborate ornamentation of its slow movement. Of the Chopin pieces Pavel Kolesnikov plays, the largest is the Polonaise-Fantasy Op.61 – a highly original conception which manages to absorb an episode in the style of a nocturne.
